SHOOTING STARS from the album "SONGS FROM THE TREE HOUSE" 1995

The inspiration for this song came from a night of star gazing on a warm August night up at a friend's farm. We had gone out of the city to witness a spectacular meteor shower. It was like being a kid again all wrapped up in sleeping bags, eating junk food, laughing and talking late into the night.

The second part to this story came when it was discovered that the dock on the pond at the same farm had a wonderful sound when you played it like a marimba. Mark and I made a special trip, recording equipment in hand and on yet another magical night recorded the bed track for the song under a starry sky using mallets to "play" the dock. You can hear the crickets in the background as well.
